Free Compost

Due to an overwhelming demand for compost all year round we have decided to offer ours to the public. Unfortunately, everybody and his brother wants some and many come back for more, so if you want it, you should read the following instructions.
Here are the
FAQS
Call before you come over so we can leave the gate open for you or meet you at the gate:
916-320-4042
1. We are a horse ranch, as you can see from the website.
www.eponafarms.com
Therefore, we cannot offer anything but equine (horse) compost. Please do not ask about bovine, porcine goat or chicken based compost.
2. We will never, ever run out of compost because we have 55+ horses.
3. The compost is about 2 years old and we do not do anything to it. We stack it and turn it over with a tractor twice each year and that's all. No worms, no chemicals nothing except decomposed horse manure, hayseeds, microbes and some saw dust or shaving debris from the stable floors, but, according to Martha Stewart, that's a good thing.
4. You must bring your own shovels and rakes because we are sick of losing ours. We have a surveillance camera at the entrance and someone is in the house or barn at all times. We can not shift your load with our tractors ...Hell. we can't even get our own crew to work...
5. The compost is free but we love donations, apples, and carrots for the horses are nice ;)
6. We reside between Galt and Lodi. To find us use Google Maps and key in the following coordinates:
Zip: 95632
5855 Jahant Road at Kennefeck Road
Galt, California
Southbound on 99 take the Jahant Road Turnoff to the right
Drive past the gas station and go left to the stop sign then left again over the freeway. Come over top of the Freeway and head east on Jahant, toward the foothills.
Go straight 1/2 mile and start to slow down. Look for our Epona Farms signs on the left.
If you cross the railroad tracks going east you have gone too far.
Call ahead and we will let you in.
Pull into the driveway and when you get in, close the gate, drive past the main barn, turn right and look for the wooden bin on your right.
Do not take more than you need.
People tell us this stuff is great for roses, shrubs, and fruit trees, especially citrus. It is not good for lawns as it has hay and oat seeds in it. Do not use it on Yew, Redwood, orchids, Iris and tulip bulbs, or any sensitive plants. Great for mushrooms. ;)
Ignore all dogs except the Bull Mastiff. Feel free to come to the front of the house with donations or to seek more information, and be sure to leave a business card or some way to e-mail you with updates...
Thanks
